The Call

At twenty-five I built a new road
Long hours low pay but I carried the load
Served their tables learned their ways
But my heart was lost in endless days

Smiles were fake laughs ran dry
Each shift passed like a strangers sigh
I told myself this is how its done
But deep inside I felt like none

Then one night the silence broke
A voice I knew a trembling tone
Shes in the hospital shes not okay
And suddenly I lost my way
